Research at Taiwan Tech

Through 40 years of growth and evolution, Taiwan Tech has been recognized for its academic and practical achievements in such areas as cooperation with industry, promotion of entrepreneurship and technology licensing.

Taiwan Tech envisions itself as an international applied research university. The research achievements of Taiwan Tech's faculty and students have great commercial potential, and Taiwan Tech has derived considerable income from its intellectual property rights, technology transfers, and licensing fees, placing Taiwan Tech in the first rank of Taiwan's universities for its research capabilities.

Though a relatively young institution in Taiwan, Taiwan Tech has been a pillar of the nation's economic development, and we aim to become an icon of Taiwan's excellence on the international stage.

The Office of Research and Development (ORD) has been established as a bridge or platform among the university, government, organizations, and enterprises for strengthening the collaboration and resource sharing. The ORD consists of the main office and three centers including:
(1) Industry-University Cooperation Center (IUCC)
Industry-University Cooperation Center is to facilitate interactions between the NTUST and enterprises and also to promote NTUST research achievements to industry. Moreover, the IACC is obligated to synchronize NTUST research capability with industrial trends for reducing the lead time of development and therefore, to improve research capacity of industry effectively.
(2) Technology Transfer Center (TTC)
The Technology Transfer Center (TTC) is to promote the research achievement developed by the faculty and students to the industries and, through the continuous interaction with the industries, to enhance the nation's competitiveness and technology development. The TTC has three major functions including (a) providing services to the faculty and students regarding various intellectual property protection and promotion issues, (b) managing the University's various intellectual properties such as know-hows, patents, copyrights, trademarks, and finally (c) bridging the University and the industries by acting as a single contact window and platform.
(3) General Affairs Center (GAC)
The General Affairs Center (GAC) serves as the window and the management unit for the faculty of the university to conduct research projects and industrial-academic cooperation projects. Our services include assistances in applying for and executing the research projects of the government, the industrial-academic cooperation projects of the public and private sectors, and the international collaborative projects. With the passion to serve faculty and the mission to promote industry upgrading, the GAC devotes itself in promoting the research and innovation capabilities of the faculty, matching the needs of industrial technology, as well as conducting the related administrative support and services. In addition, the GAC is actively seeking all possible domestic and foreign academic research and industrial cooperation opportunities and promoting major subject-oriented cluster plans. In conjunction with the related technical professionals, we shall present the highlights of industrial-academic cooperation outcomes with focused R&D incentives.
